After guests failed to show up for the wedding, a sorrowful video of a bride entering an empty venue went viral online.
Kalina Marie explained on TikTok that she had sent out actual invitations to 25 guests and digitally invited 75 more to her masquerade-themed wedding.
Unfortunately, they failed to show up, and the couple was forced to leave with their son after three other people were spotted in the venue partying with them.
The social media user clarified that the pandemic postponed their wedding, adding that they have been engaged for four years and together for nine.
Kalina shared the viral video with a long commentary, but the reception was not nearly what they had anticipated.
At the time of writing, the video’s title, which stated, “This is our entrance to our Masqurade [sic] ball,” had received over 6.5 million views. For the past ten months, I have been talking a lot about the masquerade event.
“I invited more than 75 individuals to the same ball, both in person and virtually. “But ALSO spent money to send out 25 lovely invitations,” she started.
“FIVE PEOPLE APPEARED!!!!!” I mean, are you serious? We enter the venue, as you can see in the video. And there’s nobody there,” Kalina disclosed.
The bride disclosed that they’made their entry at 2pm to five people’ and added that she started the celebration an hour later than scheduled to see if more people would show up.
“I ‘dreamed’ of entering a room full of people celebrating, but instead she was ‘a woman trying to hold herself together’ because she didn’t know how to handle the venue being almost empty,” she said.
She wrote: “Did we still make the most of it??” The group continued to party despite being annoyed by the “wasted food and drinks” and “empty tables and chairs.” We did, you bet your SWEET a**.
Additionally, she said, “But did this video just take all the good moments and shoot them out of the water for a second, f**k yeah it did.”
Many never congratulated her or informed her they couldn’t make it, so Kalina wondered if she was a bad person, if they didn’t important enough for people to come through for them, and if they had the correct ‘friends’ around them.
In conclusion, the content creator said: “But I just know that I have my man.” My darling. and relatives who come through for me when I need them. And I shall be grateful for that.
Days after the initial incident, Kalina addressed queries from the public and provided clarifications in an explanation video.
They decided on an October wedding date in January of this year, she added, and she has been “blabbing” about it all on Facebook since creating a Facebook event. She also mentioned that 25 invites were sent to those who are elderly or don’t use social media.
One user responded that she didn’t know why so many people had bailed when she asked what excuses they had heard from those who failed to show up.
“I haven’t gotten many messages describing why folks weren’t present.
Nobody making excuses for me, and I’m grateful for that,” she said.
“For the most part, we’ve done a lot of deleting and re-evaluating our lives and just spending a lot of time appreciating what we have and what we had,” Kalina said.
