Like many Americans, Whoopi Goldberg has stated that she is “having a hard time” financially and that she cannot afford to quit her job on The View.
The remarks were made by the 69-year-old celebrity on Tuesday’s episode of the ABC talk show, which she began appearing on in 2007.
Sara Haines, who supported Kamala Harris, admitted during the panel’s discussion of last week’s presidential election results that she was attempting to comprehend why working-class voters supported Donald Trump in the hope that he would improve their lot in life.
She clarified, “I’m trying to walk into the millions and millions of people who felt heard [by Trump].”
Whoopi stepped in to say that she could relate to the situation of struggling Americans as tensions between the women started to rise.
“I work for a living, so I understand that people are struggling, including me,” she remarked. “I wouldn’t be here if I had all the money in the world, okay? This means that I work, you know?”
“My child must provide for her family. My great-granddaughter’s relatives must provide for her. “I understand that life is difficult,” Whoopi continued.
She continued by mentioning the election outcome: “We frequently speak with folks who express that this is the issue that is bothering them. However, what annoys everyone shouldn’t be the same thing that endangers 85% of other individuals. That’s what we’re saying, I believe.
Notably, Variety claimed back in 2016 that Whoopi’s deal was anticipated to be “in the $5 to $6 million range.” However, her compensation for The View is presently unknown.
Her salary for the 1993 film Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit momentarily made her the highest-paid actress in Hollywood, and she is estimated to have a net worth of $30 million.
Throughout her time on The View, Whoopi has continued to produce and appear in films, and she is now working on a third edition of the wildly popular Sister appear series. It goes without saying that Whoopi’s most recent remarks may be similar to those made by her former co-host Meghan McCain on The View’s panel back in April. Meghan claimed that there was a disconnect between the show’s celebrities and the viewers at home.
