It’s possible that Taylor Swift will soon form another celebrity acquaintance.
In an accompanying interview, the 22-year-old WNBA player Caitlin Clark, who was named Time’s “Athlete of the Year” on Tuesday, talked candidly about her recent encounters with Swift, 34, during two recent Eras Tour shows.
According to Time, during Swift’s Nov. 1-3 run at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana, last month, the Indiana Fever star went to “back-to-back” Eras Tour gigs. During one of the shows, he even had a meeting with Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce and his mother Donna Kelce.
Swifties were “just going crazy that I’m there,” asking her to take pictures and throwing her the band’s signature friendship bracelets, Clark told Time, expressing how amazed she was by the fans’ responses to her attendance at the concert.
“I had assumed that everyone would be incredibly excited to meet Taylor. Clark told the newspaper, “And it was just the exact opposite.
Swift’s attendance was noticed by more than just her fans, though.
Time revealed that the singer of “Shake It Off” sent the WNBA Rookie of the Year “four bags” of goods from the Eras Tour, along with a statement stating that Swift was inspired by Clark’s ascent in recent years.
Swift stated in her email that “Trav and I” hope to go to an Indiana Fever game to watch her play as well, and she even invited Clark to join her at a future Kansas City Chiefs game.
After an incredible 2024 that saw her become the NCAA Division I all-time top scorer (in either men’s or women’s basketball), lead her former Iowa Hawkeyes to a second consecutive national championship game, be selected first overall by the Fever, break the WNBA’s single-season assist record, win Rookie of the Year, and lead the once-last-place Indiana Fever back to the WNBA Playoffs, the superstar co-sign is the newest feather in Clark’s cap.
She also became a WNBA All Star and was named the AP Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, all while contributing to the sport’s revival. By 2026, WNBA players will probably sign record-breaking contracts with the league as they renegotiate their salaries in response to the league’s record-breaking viewership and growing popularity.
In 2024, Swift has shattered records of her own, specifically her own.
According to the New York Times, Swift broke her own touring record this past weekend, selling $2,077,618,725 worth of tickets to close out her multi-year Eras Tour.
