Page Six claims that Sean “Diddy” Combs had no intention of preventing the release of Shyne’s movie. According to reports, Combs wanted to “make sure” the documentary included accurate facts.

On November 18, Shyne’s documentary, “The Honorable Shyne,” was released on Hulu and is currently available for watching. The movie explores Shyne Barrow’s journey from Grammy-winning rapper to incarcerated person. Along with his path of resiliency and atonement, it also chronicles his political ascent to the post of Opposition Leader in Belize.

A brawl broke out at Club New York in New York City on December 27, 1999, with Combs’ then-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez, Diddy, and Shyne all in attendance. After authorities discovered a weapon in Diddy and Lopez’s car, they were arrested after three witnesses were hurt by gunshots. Lopez evaded prosecution, and Diddy was exonerated by the court in 2001. Shyne, who was 21 at the time, received a 10-year assault term. But in 2009, he was repatriated to Belize by authorities after serving eight years in prison.

At a news conference in Belize in September, Shyne discussed Diddy’s detention. Authorities accused the 55-year-old of sex trafficking, racketeering, and transporting people for prostitution, as TSR previously reported. Shyne made it clear that he doesn’t enjoy seeing others fail. He did, however, attribute his life being “ruined” by the founder of Bad Boys Records.

He added that although he did think about taking Combs’ money to help Belize, he was adamant about holding him responsible for the harm done to his life.

“Diddy turned around and called witnesses to testify against me while I was defending him, essentially sending me to prison.” Therefore, you must always describe that relationship in that context. Let’s not act like I was in Miami for Thanksgiving and Christmas, even though I did forgive and move on. Let’s not lose sight of the hard, unalterable facts. I didn’t go on vacation with this person, but we did have a wonderful, close-knit fraternity. This individual wrecked my life.
