The ‘leaked’ study stating Olympic gender row boxer Imane Khelif is a biological man was allegedly co-authored by a doctor, who has now spoken out.
The results of the purported study, which was allegedly from 2023, surfaced online on Tuesday, sparking new calls for Khelif to be deprived of her gold medal from Paris.
A ‘gender row’ scandal erupted around Khelif and Taiwan boxer Lin Yu-ting at the Olympics when both were allowed to compete despite failing gender eligibility tests at the world championships the previous year.
As IOC head Thomas Bach defended their participation, both boxers brushed off criticism and went on to win the top Olympic medals in their respective weight classes.
Though it is still unclear whether the report is authentic, an apparently leaked excerpt from a report that claims Khelif is a “biological male” brought the question of her credibility in winning the women’s gold at the Olympics back into the public eye. Bild was the first to report on the report.
According to a purported biological report, Imane Khelif is a biological guy.

Expert endocrinologists from France and Algeria, who worked at the Mohamed Lamine Debaghine hospital in Algiers and the Kremlin-Bicetre hospital in Paris, were reportedly involved in the report.
According to the unconfirmed source, Khelif exhibits masculine traits.
However, endocrinologist Jacques Young, who is said to have co-authored the letter and works at Bicetre Hospital in Paris, told DW in Germany that he believes his name is being used to disseminate misleading information.
“These attacks, often based on unsubstantiated allegations, aim to tarnish the image of an athlete who has brought honor to our nation on the international stage,” the Algerian Olympic Committee told DW in a statement.
“These attempts at destabilization are completely unacceptable in the realm of sports, and we strongly condemn them.”
The IOC stated that it will “not comment on media reports about unverified documents whose origin cannot be confirmed, or while legal action is ongoing.” The statement that was released after the scandal at the Olympics in Paris was then repeated.
After learning of the news, Piers Morgan took to X to demand that Khelif’s gold medal be taken away from her and to criticize the IOC’s decision to let her to compete at the Paris Games.
“Confirmation of what some of us said at the time: Khelif is a biological man,” a furious Morgan wrote on Thursday to his 8.8 million followers. The best real woman should now receive the gold medal instead.
Martina Navratilova, a tennis icon, also voiced her opinion on the subject and supported Morgan’s assertion that Khelif ought to have her medals revoked.
“What we have been saying for months,” she wrote in a post on X. And for referring to his person as a man, or at least a male, we received a variety of insults, and most importantly, this man stole medals and victories from the women. Simply terrible.

One person who returned to the Olympic boxing gender dispute was Laura Woods.
Laura Woods, a sports host, has also expressed her opinions on the larger transgender discussion and Khelif’s participation in the Olympic Games.
“There should be a place for transgender people in sports, but not at the expense of women’s safety or equality,” she tweeted. And women are not responsible for figuring that out. These classifications ought to be safeguarded.
“The most crucial elements in sports must be safety and fairness.” at every level. include, and in particular, grass roads. This cannot continue to occur.
She went on to say that because of her position, she has lost friends.
During a dramatic run to the gold medal, which saw Italy’s Angela Carini crying after struggling with her opponent’s power, Khelif defeated Chinese boxer Yang Liu by unanimous decision to win the Olympic gold medal.
“As for whether I qualify or not, whether I am a woman or not, I have made many statements in the media,” Khelif said in a previous outburst to reporters following her gold medal win in the Paris Olympics, claiming she is a biological female.
“I am completely eligible to participate in this competition.” Like all women, I am a woman. Without a doubt, I was born a woman, lived as a woman, and competed as a woman.
I refer to [the critics] as the opponents of achievement. And because of these attacks, my success also has a unique flavor.
Khelif won gold in the Olympics by a unanimous decision over Chinese boxer Yang Liu .
Elon Musk and author JK Rowling expressed their outrage on social media over the controversy surrounding Khelif’s and fellow boxer Lin’s Olympic participation, while Donald Trump also made fun of the Algerian fighter.
Later, Khelif’s Paris-based lawyer, Nabil Boudi, disclosed that they had filed a complaint against French authorities for remarks made regarding her gender on the internet.
Several well-known celebrities have been mentioned in the lawsuit’s social media posts, but no specific people have been listed as defendants.
At the time, the 25-year-old Olympic winner said she was “hurt a lot” by the extreme scrutiny of her gender and questioned the motives of individuals she suspected of harassing her.
