Hannah Kobayashi missed a flight connection in Los Angeles more than a week ago. The 30-year-old Hawaii lady has stopped talking after receiving a slew of questionable texts on her phone, and her family is now concerned that she might have been kidnapped.
On November 11, Kobayashi was captured on camera with an unidentified individual outside a Metro rail station in downtown Los Angeles, according to her family.
We make an effort not to assume the worst. We are making an effort to maintain optimism, but it has been over a week and a day since she was last seen on November 11 with this unidentified individual and appeared to be in poor health.
On Tuesday, Kobayashi’s aunt Larie Pidgeon told CNN’s Kate Bolduan, “Our mind is now going to, you know, abduction and, I hate to say the word, but, you know, trafficked.”
“We’re doing everything we can, but the family is now having to face the fact that those things might happen,” Pidgeon stated.
In an email to CNN on Monday, the field office stated that the FBI is helping the LAPD with the investigation.
Kobayashi’s sister, Sydni Kobayashi, told CNN over the phone on Monday that her sister was on her way from Maui, Hawaii, to New York, with a flying stopover at Los Angeles International Airport. Her schedule coincided with that of an ex-boyfriend, and since they were unable to obtain a refund, they chose to maintain their tickets even though they would be parting ways as soon as they touched down at John F. Kennedy International Airport.
According to her sister, Kobayashi would be visiting her aunt in upstate New York. However, no one heard from her again until November 11.
Kobayashi did not sound like herself in the text texts she sent before going missing. According to her sister, she used terms like “babe,” “love,” and “hun.”
According to Sydni Kobayashi, “I don’t personally think that was my sister.” The term ‘hun’ is not used by her. “Baby” and “love,” but never “hun.” The same has been stated by her close pals as well.
The chronology
Hannah Kobayashi flew from Maui to Los Angeles on Friday, November 8. A picture acquired by CNN seems to show her exiting the aircraft at the airport in Los Angeles. Her sister told CNN that she didn’t go on her planned flight to New York that evening. That connecting flight, however, was taken by her ex-boyfriend.
According to her sister, Kobayashi was seen the next day in a Taschen bookstore in a mall named The Grove in Los Angeles. Her family is unsure of the reason for this sighting. According to Sydni Kobayashi, she then paid two individuals via Venmo whose identities the family does not recognize.
On YouTube, a video was uploaded. Kobayashi at the LeBron XXII Trial Experience, which took place at the Nike store in the same retail mall on Sunday, November 10. According to her sister, she also shared a picture of the occasion on her Instagram account.
Her mother contacted the missing woman on November 11, the last day anyone heard from her, to see if she had arrived in New York. “No,” Kobayashi said, according to her sister. According to screenshots her sister gave to CNN, she also wrote texts to a friend stating that she didn’t feel safe and that someone was attempting to steal her money and identity.
One message to a pal said, “Deep Hackers have had me on a mind f**k since Friday, wiped my identity, and stole all of my funds.”
One comment said, “For someone I thought I loved,” and another stated, “I got tricked pretty much into giving away all my funds.”
The missing people unit of the Los Angeles Police Department created a poster on Friday regarding Kobayashi’s disappearance, stating that she was last seen at the airport. It stated that she has a tattoo on her forearm and freckles on her face.
The LAPD has been contacted by CNN for additional details.
Sydni Kobayashi stated in a Facebook posting on Sunday that the family had acquired security footage of her sister in the area of the downtown Metro train station close to Crypto.com Arena, however it was not clear when the footage was captured.
The family posted on Facebook that Kobayashi “does not appear to be in good condition” and that he is not alone in the video, but they were unable to provide any other information.
Pidgeon had a message for anyone who might be with her, including her niece.
Hannah, you are loved by us. All of us are present. Your father, mother, and sister are all present. “Everyone is searching for you,” she continued.
“I want anyone who has Hannah to know that she is the most beautiful and compassionate soul on the planet. And don’t harm her, please.
“Just return us to her, please. No inquiries were made. Don’t harm her, please. Please.
