Hacker group Anonymous speaks out on 2024 election results: ‘Something doesn’t add up’

Following Donald Trump’s overwhelming victory over Kamala Harris in the 2024 US Presidential Election, the hacking collective Anonymous has replied.

After a fierce election night, Trump’s victory echoes throughout America as he wins the president again, paving the way for his second term as the country’s 47th leader after serving as its 45th.

The 78-year-old’s victory makes him just the second person in US history to win the position again after failing his initial attempt at reelection.

However, Trump’s detractors are still expressing shock and controversy as he is re-elected on January 20, 2025. Celebrities and political leaders alike expressed disbelief on social media as soon as the election results predicted Trump’s victory.

The cyber collective Anonymous released a noteworthy post that quickly stirred up controversy by making confusing comparisons between the 2020 and 2024 election turnouts.

The organization expressed their skepticism on X (previously Twitter), tweeting to its 7.7 million followers: “Something doesn’t match up. Trump received 74 million votes in 2020, whereas Biden received 81 million.

“In 2024, Trump received 71 million votes, while Harris received 66 million.

“15 million Democrats choose not to participate in this election? 3 million MAGA choose not to participate in this one? No f***ing way.

When the tweet was shared on November 6, millions of votes had not yet been counted, of course, but Trump’s victory will not be overturned because he has more than the 270 electoral votes required to win the presidency.

But according to a Wednesday ABC News report, “Approximately 137 million ballots have been counted so far in the 2024 presidential election. It is estimated that the final turnout would be close to 152 million votes.

That would represent roughly 61 percent of eligible voters and represent a drop from the 158 million who cast ballots in 2020. That would be a decrease from 2020’s 66 percent.

Nonetheless, social media users kept adding their thoughts, clearly perplexed. One user wrote: “People voted during COVID,” among other comments that varied from skepticism to sheer panic. However, not in 2024?

Others made comments such, “I never want to be a conspiracy theorist, but is this that’secret’ Trump was talking about?” that alluded to darker overtones. I mean, he didn’t appear to care and was hardly making an effort near the end.”

Every conversation seemed to be tinged with mistrust. “It has a foul odor. Another user said, “After record turnout, record new registrations, and high stakes on both sides, we’re still looking at 10-15 million missing after all the votes are counted.”

Despite the commotion, Trump’s campaign was successful in key battleground states, winning four of Nebraska’s five electoral votes, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Georgia, and North Carolina, with leads in Nevada and Arizona.

Trump declared in his victory speech that “I will fight for you every single day, with every single breath in my body,” after the victory was not just a win but a landslide.

“Until we have created the powerful, secure, and affluent America that you and children deserve, I will not stop. This is going to be America’s golden age.

Indeed, Trump’s victory was referred to as “the greatest political comeback in the history of the United States of America” by his running partner, JD Vance.

There is still divide as Trump celebrates his historic reelection; a mixture of joy and startling skepticism paints a nuanced image of an America at a turning point in history and controversy.
