Conor McGregor responds to Jake Paul’s call out after beating Mike Tyson

It’s safe to say that Conor McGregor’s response to Jake Paul’s criticism earlier today was humorous.

On Friday, November 15, Paul, 27, defeated Mike Tyson, 58, by unanimous decision in Arlington, Texas.

In front of a crowded Dallas Cowboys stadium, he performed in the ring. Some people even bought $2 million tickets to watch the event.

Despite his best attempts, Tyson was unable to keep up with Paul, who is 31 years younger, demonstrating his advanced age.

Despite persevering through the eight two-minute rounds, the former heavyweight champion was only able to land 18 blows, while Paul managed 78.

Paul called out McGregor less than 24 hours after his victory in Texas, indicating that his resounding victory over the great fighter is obviously insufficient to satisfy him.

The 27-year-old appears eager to confront the former UFC double champion in a boxing/MMA crossover match.

“Dear Conor, I know you told my team you would fight me at 170lbs,” Paul posted to X.

“That will never occur. Let’s do it in MMA, though. No weight class. The same way it was done in the past. However, you won’t.

This would not be McGregor’s first time participating in a crossover bout if he accepts the offer; in August 2017, he faced Floyd Mayweather.

The Irishman’s response was exactly what fans had been waiting for.

McGregor posted on X, “Nakisi already called me, dude, this guy is next for you.”

“Good luck, friend.”

A picture of 82-year-old former Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell was included with the tweet; this was likely a jab at Paul’s involvement with a number of retired or past their best fighters, like Tyron Woodley, Anderson Silva, Ben Askren, and Nate Diaz, to mention a few.

Since then, McGregor’s post has been removed.

According to the US Express, the two had been at odds for a while. In the summer of 2024, McGregor expressed his feelings on Paul in a live stream.

“I hope Mike [Tyson] rattles the little dope, no one gives an f— about him,” McGregor remarked.

“How is that even in the f——Dallas stadium?”

Paul discussed his thoughts on a possible bout with the 36-year-old during the news conference held after the fight.

Paul clarified, “He’ll [Conor McGregor] never do that though.”

“He is aware. He is not in charge of himself. Conor McGregor’s refusal to face Jake Paul is an easy way to say, but the reality is f——.

“Watch him compete head-to-head with Nate Diaz, who was a breeze to work with. It resembled a sparring session on Monday.

Crossover fights used to seem nearly impossible, but they are now common; former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou even left the company to compete in boxing against Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.
