No one was willing to sing the national anthem, so one high schooler took off his helmet and grabbed a guitar

Passionately singing the Star-Spangled Banner is one of the few things that can make the blood flow.

Ask anyone who witnessed Jackson Dean Nicholson’s performance a few years ago while he was a senior defensive end at Arundel High School in Maryland.

We are referring to his pre-game performance of the national anthem, not his on-field performance. It has impressed thousands of online users throughout the years in addition to the local audience.

According to sources, Nicholson had to make a choice when he discovered that no one else was ready to sing the national anthem before his school’s game. Naturally, he had two options: either let the audience sing the song themselves, or let the school play a recording over the loud speakers.

However, it appears that Nicholson is a different animal. With just an acoustic guitar and a microphone, the high school student stood by himself in the center of the field before the game began.

It is not surprising that the video has become a viral success and has repeatedly regained popularity because he immediately sang one of the greatest renditions of the American national anthem that we have ever heard.

The fact that the video, which was first posted in 2018, is still as amazing and relevant today is proof of Nicholson’s vocal prowess.

It was awesome. At the time, Nicholson told the Baltimore Sun, “I think I knew 90 percent of the people sitting in those stands, and they didn’t know I was doing it ’til I brought my guitar out.”

For his little moment of fame, Nicholson may have been dressed as a senior defensive end, but his real love in life is music. Since his freshman year, he has written and performed songs. At the time of his viral success, he was working on his own album.

He prudently chose the stage name Jackson Dean because there was already a fairly well-known person with the same name as Jack Nicholson.

In 2018, when discussing his football career, Jackson stated: “This is my last year, then I’m done.” I only need to be enrolled for this semester; I will have completed all of my credits by January. My principal granted me a dispensation and is really supportive of my work.

“I intend to pursue it.”

Jackson, good luck!

We want as many people to see Jackson’s performance as possible because we just can’t get over how amazing it was.
