Queen Camilla Mourns the Tragic Loss of Her Beloved Rescue Dog

Queen Camilla is in grief, the Royal Family said in a statement.

 

The queen’s family announced her passing along with a picture of her with her cherished rescue puppy, Beth.

The statement said, “A sad farewell to Beth, The Queen’s much-loved companion from Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.”

It was reported by People that Beth died from an incurable malignancy.

Beth “brought such joy, whether on walkies, helping on official duties, or curled up by the fire,” the family noted in the statement.

A Jack Russell Terrier, Beth was. She was adopted by Queen Camilla in 2011, according to People.

According to People, Queen Camilla then adopted Bluebell, another Jack Russell Terrier, in 2012, a year after bringing Beth into the family.

“Thank you for giving Beth the most wonderful life and for always supporting rescue,” Battersea said in a comment on the Instagram photo. Beth, rest in peace.

In its own Instagram post, Battersea said, “We’re very sad to hear that Beth, HM The Queen’s rescue dog, has sadly passed away.”

We have many happy memories of Beth visiting our centers throughout the years, and in 2011 Her Majesty, our Patron, rehomed Beth from Battersea. Right now, Their Majesties are in our minds. We understand the pain of losing a cherished companion, and Beth was truly unique,” Battersea said.

One reader stated, “Your Majesties gave Beth such an incredible life, and she will be forever grateful to you for your love and for raising awareness for rescue dogs.”

Both King Charles and Princess Catherine have received cancer diagnoses, making this a challenging year for the Royal Family.
