Who would have guessed that Scarlett Johansson’s orgasm story wouldn’t end happily?
Recently, Scarlett Johansson revealed a somewhat embarrassing incident that happened to her and Joaquin Phoenix during the filming of a sequence for their film.
Before you get too excited, let me explain: this was not some Scarlett Johansson film that you somehow missed because it was rated X.
I checked again, and there isn’t one as far as we know. In fact, this incident happened during the production of Spike Jonze’s movie Her.
In case you haven’t watched this amazing 2013 sci-fi romantic comedy, the plot centers on Joaquin Phoenix’s character, Theodore, who develops feelings for Johansson’s voiced computer program Samantha.
The twist is that Johansson doesn’t make an actual appearance in the movie. Rather, throughout the film, her voice speaks to Phoenix’s character.
In 2022, Johansson talked about a really odd and difficult sex scene they had to film for Her in an interview with presenters Dax Shepard and Monica Padman on the Armchair Expert podcast.
Yes, there is a sultry phone sex scene in the movie.
Johansson, however, claims that recording this segment was far more painful than you might imagine.
She clarified that although Phoenix had previously finished his portion of the scene, Johansson had to accompany her in a recording studio to finish it because his contribution was solely vocal.
“He seemed upset… He had performed the scenario in person before, and here he was with me in this strange theater, with Joaquin staring at me from a box, dim lighting, and Spike in the background. It was so strange.
Joaquin left the studio because he was so angry about it. He required a rest.
Johansson acknowledged that she could totally relate to Phoenix’s uneasiness and claimed that the thought now makes her “panic.”
“You never want to hear your voice,” she said.
The sound of you having an orgasm is definitely not something you want to hear. Ew, you really don’t want to be heard pretending to have an orgasm. It’s really disgusting.
Knowing how unpleasant that sequence was for both actors, you can look forward to it if you intend to watch Her.
If that’s not enough to persuade you, the movie has gotten positive reviews, earning an 8 out of 10 on IMDb and a 95 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
