Bravo is returning Vanderpump Rules for a second season, but the cast will be drastically changed.
On Tuesday, November 26, the network revealed that Lisa Vanderpump and a new cast of “close-knit SUR-vers who are as complicatedly involved with one another as their iconic predecessors” would be featured in season 12. Next year, the new season will go into production; the cast and debut date will be revealed later.
In a statement released on Tuesday, executive producer Alex Baskin stated, “What a thrill it is to build on the legacy of this series by doing it all over again.” “We have a great deal of respect for the original group and their legendary run, and we are excited for the audience to witness a vibrant new group of friends and coworkers navigate life together.”
Beginning as a spinoff of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Vanderpump Rules developed into its own franchise after making its premiere in 2013. Scheana Shay, Katie Maloney, Tom Sandoval, Kristen Doute, Jax Taylor, and Stassi Schroeder were among the employees of Vanderpump’s restaurant SUR at the time, and the show first followed them as they attempted to resolve both personal and professional conflicts.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Vanderpump stated, “The past 12 years of filming have been an extraordinary run full of laughter, tears, and everything in between.” “I am very grateful to everyone who has shared their lives with me. I adore you all. One shift constantly gives way to another in the restaurant industry. Cheers to Vanderpump Rules’ upcoming generation.
Tom Schwartz, Ariana Madix, James Kennedy, Lala Kent, Brittany Cartwright, and more have joined VPR over the years. Actually, The Valley, a spinoff of Vanderpump Rules, made its debut earlier this year.
When it was revealed in March 2023 that Sandoval, 42, and Ariana, 39, had broken up after over ten years of dating because of his romance with James’ ex-fiance, Rachel Leviss, Vanderpump Rules became a cultural phenomenon after ten years of airing. Scandoval caused a rift among the group since some previous SURvers were angry that Ariana would not film scenes with Sandoval, even though the show had more viewers than ever before and was even nominated for an Emmy.
After that, Bravo made the decision to take a long break before starting season 12. (The COVID pandemic in 2020 was the only other summertime filming break for Vanderpump Rules.)
Last month, Us Weekly was informed by a production-close source that talks about the show’s future were “still ongoing.” For months, the cast has expressed a similar opinion to Us.
Sandoval said to Us, “I think we have a lot more story to tell.” It’s not up to me, though. The EP is not me. The network is not me. I’m hoping it keeps going. We will simply wait to see what occurs.
Lala’s perspective on what remained to be captured was a little different.
“Let’s just say that there isn’t anything more to say. Correct? Raquel and Sandoval are the only two individuals at fault for that. During an interview on Jeff Lewis Live that same month, Lala declared, “I will always be a cheerleader [for her], Ariana.” “On Broadway, she was outstanding. On Love Island, she reportedly killed it. We weren’t excellent, so I never saw the show and definitely didn’t start.
“I have no ill feelings about anybody on the show,” Lala said, confirming that a reconciliation between her and Ariana “will never happen.” That, I believe, is what makes me feel at ease for the first time.
Many members of the cast have gone on to new chances since the break. Ariana made a comeback to Broadway and hosted the sixth season of Love Island USA. Sandoval will appear in season three of The Traitors, while Schwartz, 42, appeared to record a cameo for Summer House. (One day before the program news, the two Toms also declared that Schwartz and Sandy’s, their bar, would be closing.) Along with Schwartz and Scheana’s husband, Brock Davies, the 39-year-old couple Lala and Scheana are anticipated to make appearances in season 2 of The Valley.
Peacock is now streaming Vanderpump Rules.
