We Brits are all too aware that there are usually wild celebrations when our favorite team wins a match or competition.

And in this instance, a baseball fan utilized pyrotechnics, so it literally went off.

But when the LA Dodgers won, the man’s hand was blasted off, and everything went horribly wrong.

On Thursday night (October 31), the US baseball team defeated the NY Yankees to win the 2024 World Series, and spectators celebrated in the streets.

The startling incident, which set off pyrotechnics, was captured on camera and went viral on social media as the celebration backfired.

The fireworks went off too quickly.

On a crosswalk in downtown Los Angeles, the fan—later identified as a 25-year-old man—was observed carrying a lit firecracker. But before he could safely set it on the ground and get away from it, the sparks swiftly transformed into a fiery orange blaze.

The firework detonated in his hand, revealing blood, and thick plumes of smoke began to billow.

He groaned in pain, which was understandable given that his white baseball jersey was blood-stained and it was evident that his left hand had been half blasted off. Even his fingers and chunks of flesh appear to be missing.

Both the fan and onlookers were clearly shocked, as many came to see how he was doing.

The fan had a severe damage to his hand.

One person could be heard yelling, “His hand blew off, oh my goodness,” to the screams of onlookers.

Then, as it became evident how terribly things had gone, they phoned the emergency services.

The Dodgers fan stared at his injured hand in complete disbelief as the whole scope of the situation became evident, while chaos erupted all around him.

The Los Angeles Fire Department told TMZ that although the man was aware and attentive, he had received severe hand injuries that were deemed “debilitating.”

He was reportedly transported to a neighboring hospital with tourniquets applied to both of his arms.

In ‘unincorporated regions’ around Los Angeles, it is unlawful to manufacture, store, sell, use, or handle firework of any kind without a proper permission, according to the County of Los Angeles Fire Code.

The Los Angeles Fire Department was contacted for comment by the LADbible Group.
