At the restaurant in Sunningdale, Berkshire, the TV host was enjoying a drink with his lunch when he had what is thought to have been a response to an anesthetic he had received for an operation earlier in the day. Around 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27, a staff member started to worry about the You Bet! host, so an ambulance was called.
For the 47-year-old, who has been grieving the recent loss of his father, it was a second setback.
According to a source who spoke to The Sun, Stephen has recently been going through a very difficult period. He is mourning the death of his father, with whom he had a very close relationship. In addition, he has been dealing with a number of well-known health issues, and on Wednesday morning, he underwent a treatment that required the use of a local anesthetic.
That night, he took himself out for a private, quiet meal, had a few drinks, and simply reacted horribly. He is merely human, and he has been deeply affected by his father’s passing.
As soon as Stephen started feeling ill, worried staff members came over and dialed 999. As a precaution, paramedics examined him and transported him to the hospital. In order to reassure his mother that he was alright, he was also put on the phone.
Stephen is currently recuperating at home, the source continued, although he feels “mortified” by the Pizza Express event.
Stephen canceled his plans with Butlin’s holiday parks when his loving father passed away last month. His crew, which includes Holly Willoughby, his buddy and co-host of You Bet!, is reportedly supporting him.
The TV personality, who was once the youngest member of the Magic Circle, credits his father with teaching him magic acts when he was operating his market stall.
