The Associated Press said Wednesday, Dec. 4, citing Circana, that the 14-time Grammy winner’s Eras Tour Book sold 814,000 copies in its first weekend of release. According to the site, it’s currently the best-selling book of the week and the year’s most successful publishing debut.
More than five hundred images and anecdotes from Taylor Swift’s historic 20-month tour across five continents are included in The Eras Tour Book.
The 256-page book was released on Black Friday, November 29, and is only available at Target for $39.99. Variety reports that Circana will continue to report through Saturday, Nov. 30.
According to the AP, the only song that has outperformed Swift in its first week is Barack Obama’s A Promised Land, which came out in 2020 and sold 816,000 copies in its first week. Obama’s presidency memoir was sold at other stores, but Swift’s book is only available at Target. Additionally, he had more days in his first week of sales than Swift.

Swift included a personal statement to her followers inside the book’s front cover, reflecting on her journey.
The accomplishment made her “more disciplined and committed to my health, fitness and stamina” than before, she wrote, adding, “I’ll never forget the call when I explained my idea of the concept for The Eras Tour to my team.”
Following her laudatory remarks about her “incredible crew, band, singers and dancers who all matched my dedication to the massive scale and challenges of this show,” Swift focused on her devoted audience.
“We do it because life comes in waves, in phases, in brilliant flurries of magical moments, and all of these things come together to create… Eras,” she stated. “Here is the official retrospective of the most wondrous tour of my life, my beloved Eras Tour.”
