In an attempt to defend his work against those who are compensated to evaluate his films, Tom Hanks claims that many of the critics are “c***suckers.”
In an epic tirade on Conan O’Brien’s podcast, the Oscar winner attacked movie critics, scolding them for some of the reactions he has received throughout his lengthy Hollywood career.
For Tom and Conan, one film stands out: “That Thing You Do!” from 1996. It was Tom’s first time directing and writing a screenplay, and while it received negative reviews at first, it is now regarded as a cult classic. According to Tom, one critic who was critical of the movie is now changing his mind.
Conan and the group are informed by Tom… “Allow me to share a story with you about these jerks who write about movies. Can I say that?
Conan chuckles, cracks a joke, and Tom goes on. “Somebody who wrote about it is, ‘Tom Hanks has to stop hanging around with veterans of TV, because this is just like shot on TV and it’s not much of anything.'”
According to Tom, the same critic is now shifting their position. The cult classic ‘That Thing You Do!’ was then written about by the same individual. The same individual. They remarked, “It ends up speaking some words if you wait 20 years between now and then.”
Tom seems to have a problem with movie reviews since they are too binary. He even jokes about obtaining a gun when a review appears.
However, Tom claims that negative evaluations are a natural part of being a Hollywood celebrity.
