Us Weekly has confirm that Liam Payne’s remains have been shipped back to his home country of England.
According to a person who spoke to Us, Payne’s body was transported aboard a Wednesday, November 6 flight from Buenos Aires, Argentina, to London. The former member of One Direction passed away in Buenos Aires last month when he fell from a hotel balcony on the third level.
The process was delayed as local officials conducted an inquiry, even though Payne’s father, Geoff, came to Argentina to identify his son’s body and make arrangements for transportation back across the pond. According to the Argentinean Clarin newspaper, Payne’s remains were given to Geoff by the local morgue after toxicological and histological testing was completed. On the morning of Thursday, November 7, Geoff returned to England.
On Saturday, November 2, Us received confirmation from a source that Payne’s body had been moved to the British Cemetery in Chacarita in order to start the embalming procedure prior to the travel to London. During a funeral service, Payne’s loved ones will pay their respects once his remains arrive in the United Kingdom.
Payne had a vacation to Argentina with his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, prior to his passing. A few days before Payne passed away, 25-year-old Cassidy departed the nation. The vocalist of “Teardrops” died after falling from a hotel balcony on October 16.
Payne was in “a state of semi or total unconsciousness” at the time of the accident and died on the scene from “multiple injuries involving ‘internal and external hemorrhage,'” according to a preliminary autopsy that Us at the time saw.

In addition to having several substances in his system at the time of his death, including “pink cocaine,” Payne battled addiction since One Direction went on an indefinite break in 2016 and checked himself into a rehab facility in 2023.
Payne is survived by his two older sisters, his 7-year-old son Bear Grey, and his parents, Geoff and Karen. (Payne and his ex-girlfriend Cheryl Cole have an only child together.)
“We are devastated. Liam’s family informed the BBC in a statement at the time that “he will always be in our hearts and we will remember him for his kind, funny, and brave soul.” “As a family, we are doing everything we can to support one another, and we kindly request privacy and space during this terrible time.”
In separate social media posts, Liam’s sisters Ruth and Nicola also discussed the death of their younger sibling.
Ruth posted on Instagram, saying, “Thank you for being the best brother and friend I’ll ever have, thank you for changing my life, and thank you for the amazing memories.” “Bear will always know how amazing his dad is and how much you admire him because we’ll take care of him.”
A pledge to “make sure Bear knows about his daddy and how much you loved him” was another thing Nicola pledged to her late brother.
