The’surreal’ shoutout from the 78-year-old left viewers tuning into Donald Trump’s celebration speech after winning the US presidential election perplexed.
Yes, people, you haven’t lost sight of the fact that Donald J. Trump is once again president.
After months on the campaign trail, the Republican nominee defeated incumbent Vice President Kamala Harris to become the 47th president of the United States and capture the White House.
When Trump took the stage in Florida to announce his triumph and pledge to lead America into a “golden age”—or at least his own interpretation of one—of course, all eyes were on him.
It is hardly surprising that a celebrity shoutout was included in this significant political occasion given Trump’s history of showmanship—he is, after all, the only president to have regularly appeared on WWE.
Here’s Bryson DeChambeau, a professional golfer.
When the president-elect lauded the “fantastic” US Open champion DeChambeau and then asked if the golfer was present, his remarks took an odd turn.
Then, as Trump lauded his “great career” in the sport, DeChambeau shyly stepped onto the platform sporting an all-black “Make America Great Again” cap.
Although the 31-year-old golfer wasn’t the only non-political presence of the evening—UFC owner Dana White also made an appearance—for many watchers, it was the decisive moment in an absolutely insane night.
One social media user commented, “The newly elected president Donald Trump shouting out Bryson DeChambeau at his victory party is as surreal as it gets!.”
One Bryson DeChambeau definitely was NOT JUMPING up for appearing on stage and having his reputation once again get roasted again 😂😂

“I did NOT have ‘Trump congratulates Bryson Dechambeau on his US Open win (checks watch…from 5 MONTHS ago) during his acceptance speech’ on my Bingo card,” a second individual joked, and a third added: “One Bryson DeChambeau definitely was NOT JUMPING up for appearing on stage and having his reputation once again get roasted again.”

Despite how strange the scene appeared, many who follow US political developments would probably recall that Trump and Dechambeau have some past together, having played golf together.
The ‘Can I Break 50 With President Donald Trump?’ video that Dechambeau posted to his YouTube account back in July went viral.
Additionally, the video resolved the long-running controversy about whether the president-elect was a decent golfer—which, we sorry to tell you, he is.
