According to the actress, who supported Kamala Harris during the presidential campaign, Donald Trump’s victory will make the nation a “scary place” if he “keeps his promises.”
According to Eva Longoria, she relocated her family outside of the US years ago.
The actress talked candidly about her decision to leave Los Angeles and America in an interview with Marie Claire. She disclosed that she and her husband José Bastón had been living in Spain and Mexico for years, together with their 6-year-old son Santiago.
Longoria, 49, stated, “I had my whole adult life here,” during a Beverly Hills interview with Hte magazine. However, things were shifting even prior to the pandemic. It had a different vibe. Then Covid occurred, pushing it over the edge. I don’t want to sulk at California because of the homelessness or the taxes, but it feels like this phase of my life is over.”
The former Desperate Housewives star, who supported Kamala Harris during the presidential campaign, also responded to Donald Trump’s victory by expressing her worries about what might transpire in the US under Trump’s second term, calling it “dystopian.”
According to Longoria, “the shocking part is not that he won,” “It’s that a convicted criminal who spews so much hate could hold the highest office.”
“I would like to think our fight continues,” she continued. “If he keeps his promises, it’s going to be a scary place.”

Longoria also remembered how depressed she was after Trump defeated Hilary Clinton in 2016, and she went to bed.
“I’ve never been depressed in my life,” she replied. “I wondered if my vote actually made a difference. “Am I truly having an impact?” Because I firmly felt that the best person wins, I was incredibly detached from my essential beliefs. Then something occurred, and I thought, “Oh, hold on.” No one who is the best wins.
Longoria stated that she and her family split their time between Spain and Mexico. She also mentioned that she travels for work around Europe and South America, but she rarely shoots in Los Angeles.
She acknowledged, “I’m privileged,” “I get to go somewhere and get away. Not all Americans are as fortunate. They will be stranded in this dystopian nation, and I feel sad and anxious for them.”
Trump, the first person with a criminal record to win the presidency, received 312 electoral votes to Harris’ 226. In addition, he is expected to win the popular vote, making him the first Republican to do so in 20 years.
According to NBC News exit surveys, Trump garnered 45% of the Latino vote despite concentrating his campaign on deporting illegal immigrants. It appears that many Latino and Hispanic voters chose to vote Republican because of Trump’s economic promises.
Longoria told Marie Claire that she told high-ranking Democratic Party officials that the Latinos’ economic worries would lead them to lean right.
“We’ve been screaming from the highest rooftop that the Latino vote is not something to take for granted,” she told the publication. “You have to earn it and win it every election cycle.”
According to Longoria, she is already investigating potential future changes.
“I want to know how we can communicate that government and politics affects your life, whether you like it or not,” she said. “Either you participate in that or you let somebody else hold the power.”
