Jake Paul explains why he didn’t try to knock out Mike Tyson during big fight

The reason Jake Paul didn’t attempt to knock out Mike Tyson during their Friday night bout has been revealed.

On Friday, the two men faced off in front of 72,000 spectators at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, with an estimated 120 million people watching from around the globe.

Eight rounds of action, lasting two minutes each, took place during the eagerly awaited bout; yet, some spectators were dismayed to witness one of the greatest fighters of all time struggle to keep up with his opponent. But can you really blame him? Jake Paul is 27 years younger than Tyson, who is 58.

Paul may now spend the rest of his life gloating over defeating the greatest boxer of all time, as he was unanimously adjudged the winner by the final bell.

He did, however, promise to knock Tyson out, which is the one thing he ultimately failed to achieve.

We now know why the 27-year-old YouTube celebrity thought that he should hold himself back, even though it seemed like he was doing so during the match.

Paul didn’t want to hurt Tyson, according to BBC Sport.

“I wanted to give the fans a show, but I didn’t want to hurt someone that didn’t need to be hurt,” he stated.

He even confirmed that he was carrying the former champion for the majority of the fight.

He said, “I did, a little bit,” when the topic was raised. “I have a lot of respect for him, but I could tell he was becoming old because he wasn’t really responding.

He added: “After he slapped me [at the final weigh in] I wanted to knock him down and stuff but as the fight went on that feeling went away.”

Rather, the fighter expressed his admiration for Tyson to Al Jazeera.

It was difficult, just as I had anticipated. He’s just what I expected him to be. Among the best to have ever done it. He is a legend and an icon.

“I was afraid he might harm me. “I wanted to harm him,” he continued.

Tyson appears to be prepared to face Logan, the second Paul sibling, as his next opponent.

After the fight, ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ was asked if he thought his career was over. He honestly said, “I don’t know.” It is contingent upon the circumstances.

“I don’t believe so,” he added. “I only proved myself to myself, not to anyone else. I’m content with what I can achieve; I’m not one of those men who tries to please everyone.”

Then someone said, “You’ve got more in you?” to Tyson.

In response, the world’s youngest champion said, “Yes.”

He went on to say that he would be willing to take aim at Paul’s brother, Logan Paul, who responded, “I’d kill you, Mike.”

I have no doubt that Netflix will soon be making money off of that.

You can still watch Tyson vs. Paul on Netflix.
