Richard Gere reveals why he’s quitting the U.S. with his wife and kids and moving to Spain

After years of residing in the United States, Richard Gere is planning to move to Spain with his wife, Alejandra Silva, and family.

The 75-year-old Pretty Woman star disclosed that he would be traveling to Madrid, Spain, in time to spend Thanksgiving with Alejandra’s family.

Richard joked, “My wife is Spanish,” before revealing the big shift on Wednesday’s edition of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Does anyone else have an issue with this?

‘But my wife is Spanish, and she gave me around seven years here, so we’re going to spend some years in Madrid,’ he said.

“Our children will thrive there because they are bilingual,” he added.

Alexander, age 5, and James, age 4, are the two sons of Richard and Alejandra, who were married in 2018.

Furthermore, the Spanish activist’s 11-year-old son, Albert, has the Hollywood A-lister as his stepfather.

Along with his second wife, actress Carey Lowell, he is also the father of a 24-year-old son named Homer.

 

‘Of course I’ll be returning,’ Richard continued, confirming that he would not be leaving America permanently.

‘I love my wife, she’s great,’ Richard exclaimed when discussing his family. Wonderful mother.

Children are content and in good health. There’s nothing more than that, of course.

“My wife grew up in a big Spanish family, like a big Italian family, and her grandmother was kind of the glue that held that all together,” he added, turning to their Thanksgiving preparations.

I can see my wife evolving into the new grandmother of this extended family because the grandmother passed away [about] two years ago.

“So she’s already organizing Sunday lunches for thirty-five people.”

Unexpectedly, Richard is not the first famous person to leave the United States recently.

The Wrap reports that Ellen DeGeneres and her spouse, Portia de Rossi, just relocated to England.

According to reports, the pair is currently residing in the Cotswolds, a remote area of southwest England approximately 100 miles from London.

Fearing that if “Trump keeps his promises,” America will turn into a “scary place,” Eva Longoria abandoned what she describes as a “dystopian” America and now resides between Mexico and Spain.

Hours after he insulted Savannah Guthrie at the beginning of his Today show interview, Richard made an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

When a clip of the actor from his new political thriller, The Agency, was shown on the television, the program immediately went off course.

Richard took matters into his own hands and acted out the sequence live in Studio 1A after the producers cut it before the A-lister’s character Bosko gave the finger.

Richard boldly flipped Savannah off as she presented him to the audience, leaving her in full disbelief.

“Sorry, but that’s what I did in the piece,” Richard remarked, defending the move.

Savannah was shocked and immediately tried to cover Richard’s hand with her notepad while claiming to be “bleeping” him.

She remarked, “You just made a lewd gesture on this family morning show.”
